"Who Is Louis Armstrong?": A Family Concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center

Inside Rose Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center

If you've been looking for an easy, actually kid-friendly culture day in the city, this is a great pick. "Who Is Louis Armstrong?" is a family concert with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra that celebrates the joy, swing, and musical genius of Louis Armstrong.

If your kids don't know Armstrong yet, this is a wonderful way to introduce them. Known as "Pops" to nearly everyone who knew him, he wasn't just a great performer - he helped change what jazz is. His sound is so alive and expressive that kids often connect with it right away. There's something in his playing that you just feel, and that's exactly what a live concert can capture in a way a recording never quite does.

This also isn't a "sit perfectly still and be quiet" kind of event. The concert is designed for young listeners and adults alike, mixing big live music with storytelling and playfulness so kids can feel part of it.

Two performances are available this Saturday: 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Worth noting: both are relaxed performances, meaning the production is adapted to be more welcoming for kids and adults with sensory or cognitive differences, without changing a note of the music.

When: Saturday, March 7, 2026 - 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm

Where: Rose Theater, Frederick P. Rose Hall, 5th floor at Columbus Circle (Broadway and 60th St).

Tickets at jazz.org.
